A New Fall Menu and Whimsical Tablescape with Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens

Lifestyle, Restaurant Reviews

This week, in preparation for the holidays, I decided to introduce the new fall menu from Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens by creating a rustic whimsical tablescape. I was inspired by the fresh farm to table cuisine prepared by Chef Richard Mead and the beautiful garden surroundings of Farmhouse. This year, fall menus are arriving late due to the availability of seasonal ingredients. I assure you the new menu at Farmhouse is well worth the wait!

To showcase the new menu at Farmhouse I wanted to create a tablescape that spoke to the seasonal ingredients.

To begin, I had to plan the perfect tablescape. I love entertaining guests and decorating my dining room for every occasion. To showcase the new menu at Farmhouse I decided to create a tablescape using items that can be found at Roger’s Gardens which spoke to the seasonal ingredients. As I was strolling through the isles, I found these adorable wooden mushrooms as seen above. These were the perfect item to plan my tablescape around. Then I discovered some orchids which almost looked like blades of tall grass since they were not yet fully grown. I decided to use these as part of my centerpiece.

I found this retro tablecloth which I folded to use as a runner.

To add some splashes of color, I found this retro tablecloth which I folded to use as a runner (this is a great tip). Finally, for a hint of glam, I included napkins with a gold foiled leaf design, gold beaded candle holders, and a few cute heart-shaped gold ornaments. I love the way the colors of gray and gold work together so I also decided to use simple round gray placemats. My tablescape made me feel like I was in Alice in Wonderland!

The Grilled Togarashi Spice Albacore Salad was one of my favorites.

No tablescape would be complete without delicious cuisine to go with it. To begin, Farmhouse has introduced several amazing new salads. The Grilled Togarashi Spice Albacore Salad was one of my favorites. It features shitake mushroom, caramelized onion, carrot, mizuna greens, grilled baby bok choy, saimin noodles, soy chile citrus vinaigrette, pickled ginger, and mouse melon sesame seeds. Other salads include their popular Grilled Prime Hanger Steak and Gorgonzola Salad, as well as the Grilled Pomegranate Glazed Salmon Salad.

Farmhouse-spaghetti-squash

This new side dish reignited my love for spaghetti squash.

Then, there are also a few new side dishes. My personal favorite was the Roast Spaghetti Squash and Three Cheese Gratin. This dish sounds so simple but was surprisingly incredibly complex. Hidden within the gratin you’ll find swiss chard, caramelized onion and chanterelle mushrooms, cauliflower, roast butternut squash, parmesan, and leek béchamel sauce. it is then topped with mozzarella and fontina cheese. I don’t think I could recreate this dish even if I tried, but it reignited my love for spaghetti squash. Farmhouse’s new menu also features a Roast Spaghetti Squash with cilantro pesto, spigarello, and oven-dried tomato, as well as a side of Blistered Brussel Sprouts.

Farmhouse-Rogers-Garden-Swordfish

Chef Richard did a fabulous job of cooking his swordfish fish to flaky moist perfection.

Next for entrees, I was head over heels for the new Herb-Grilled Swordfish and Mashed Potatoes. I’ll admit, I normally avoid swordfish because of its tendency to be served overcooked. Since this fish has very little fat content, it can easily become dry and rubbery. Chef Richard did a fabulous job of cooking his swordfish fish to a flaky moist perfection. The addition of roast broccolini, onion, radish, butternut squash, and swiss chard gave so much life, color, and flavor to this dish. It is then topped with lemon caper butter, apple cider molasses glaze, apple pomegranate relish, and a grilled Meyer lemon for the perfect amount of zest.

The Grilled Dijon Glazed Pork Tenderloin is the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors.

The final new entree is the Grilled Dijon Soy Glazed Pork Tenderloin. The pork tenderloin is served with parmesan potato cakes, braised red cabbage, apple raisin compote, and applejack brandy sauce. It is the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors that will instantly put you in the holiday spirit.
