Eddie V’s restaurant easily has one of the most decadent and timeless fine dining menus. Guests can expect rich flavors like their Béarnaise drenched Oscar-style bacon wrapped Filet, Banana Fosters Butter Cake, and Truffle Mac & Cheese. It is one of those meals where you become incredibly full, but never want to stop eating. Here’s an inside look at our indulgent visit to Eddie V’s in Newport Beach.
First, for cocktails, I ordered their romantic and whimsical 24 Karat. This beauty features Belvedere Vodka, Grand Marnier, Peach Liqueur, Roederer Rose, and is served with a gold sugar rim. You might as well start booking your Valentines Day reservations now!
For an appetizer we enjoyed their popular Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. Each bite was full of extra meaty chunks of fresh crab. The crab cake also sat atop a spicy chive Remoulade sauce which was the perfect accompaniment.
The zesty lemon vinaigrette made the Jumbo Shrimp especially impressive.
For our first entree, we decided to try the Jumbo Gulf Shrimp since Eddie V’s is known for their seafood. Each shrimp was stuffed “Oreganata Style” with jumbo lump crab meat. Oreganata is a term often used with stuffed clams and refers to the mixture of breading and Oregano. This dish was especially impressive because of the zesty lemon vinaigrette that arrived lightly drizzled on the plate. It added the perfect amount of zip.
There was no way I could resist their Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon served Oscar Style with King Crab & Béarnaise.
Next, for our second entree, I could not resist their Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon served Oscar Style. The filet comes piled high with king crab, drenched in béarnaise sauce, and served with chilled asparagus. A visit to Eddie V’s restaurant would not be complete without ordering this dish. Their Béarnaise sauce is so incredibly decadent and they even make a special Tarragon infusion to add even more flavor.
The Truffle Mac & Cheese at Eddie V’s restaurant is hands down the best I’ve ever had.
Then, for sides, I ordered the Truffle Mac & Cheese which is hands down the best I’ve ever had. In fact, I would Eddie V’s restaurant easily has one of the best mac & cheeses I’ve ever had. You would be hard pressed to find better at any other restaurant. Their Truffle Mac & Cheese has just the right consistency and ratio of cheese and cream. The addition of crispy buttered bread crumbs really stepped this dish up even more. My mother used to make an amazing homemade mac & cheese and trust me, it’s all about the crispy breadcrumbs!
Finally, for dessert we enjoyed both the Banana Fosters Butter Cake and the Dark Chocolate Crushed Toffee S’mores. The S’more dessert is absolutely beautiful with a graham cracker crust, dark creamy chocolate, and toasted marshmallow topping.
This butter cake is life changing so make sure you save room for dessert!
Most noteworthy was their Banana Fosters Butter Cake served with Butter Pecan ice cream. This dessert will knock your socks off. I’ll tell you right now that the Banana Fosters Butter Cake blows the butter cake from Mastro’s out of the water. The butter cake at Eddie V’s restaurant is on a level of amazing I didn’t even know existed. It is light, fluffy, and bursting with buttery flavor. The outside is just slightly crisp with the addition of banana’s. Their butter cake is then flambéed table-side, taking this dessert to the next level. I’m telling you, this dessert is life changing so make sure you save room!
