Leoness-Cellar-Restaurant

There are so many wonderful restaurants in Temecula Wine County, but The Leoness Cellars Restaurant is the creme de la creme. This restaurant could easily be located anywhere in the country and it would still stand out amongst the best. The Restaurant at Leoness Cellars has consistently been my top recommendation. In addition to their superb menu, they also have the best Zinfandels in all of Temecula.

Leoness-Cellar-pate

We enjoyed a fantastic chicken pâté topped with a Cumberland sauce

A dining experience at The Leoness Cellars Restaurant is a true feast for the eyes. For starters, we enjoyed a fantastic chicken pâté topped with a Cumberland sauce, which was a citrus sauce with spices. I’ll admit I am not always a fan of chicken pâté, but this was truly the best I’ve ever had. The flavor was much more in line with what I would expect from a foie gras. It was not gamey as typical pâté can be.

Leoness-Cellar-Oysters-rock

Following our amazing pâté, we enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller with spinach, béarnaise, and breadcrumbs. This is a wonderful alternative to their equally fantastic raw oysters which I’ve also enjoyed on previous visits.

Leoness-Cellar-Duck

The Duck Breast was an exceptional example of Chef Daragh Mathersons wonderful cuisine.

Next, for entrees, we ordered the duck with grilled apricot, fennel, and cherry sauce. The duck was cooked to medium rare perfection and beautifully plated. This was an exceptional example of Chef Daragh Mathersons wonderful cuisine.

Leoness-Cellar-Sea-Bass

For our second entree, we were served the market fish which was Sea Bass with risotto, mushroom, and beurre rouge. This was absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite dishes of the evening. The beurre rouge sauce was incredibly decadent which gave this normally light and fluffy fish a more rich flavor.

California recently banned foie gras so I could not resist getting my last taste

Finally for our third entree, I had to get the buttermilk chicken. It was served with foie gras prosciutto stuffing with zucchini and thyme butter sauce. California recently banned foie gras so I could not resist getting my last taste and it was true perfection.

Leoness-Cellar-Dessert

For dessert, we had a beautiful Pavlova with meringue, champagne bavarian, strawberry consommé, passion fruit Anglaise, and fresh fruit. We were delighted when our waiter poured the Anglaise tableside.

The The Black Forest Gateau was more delicious than words can describe.

Since this was a special occasion with a few extra guests we also indulged a bit more than usual and enjoyed a second dessert. The Black Forest Gateau, a chocolate and almond cake with chocolate mousse, Amarena cherries, chocolate ganache, white chocolate kirsch mousse, and an almond and hazelnut praline was more delicious than words can even describe. Our desserts were accompanied by a glass of 2016 Lana Lisa Late Harvest, and a glass of 2013 Cinsaut. These two dessert wines made our night especially sweet.
